I have
always been the kind of guy who hates talking about money. I would love to do
away with it and move on with life. The main issue I think that they were
hinting or shedding some light on here was that both schools receive public
funding yet one was much more well off than the other and it had much more privileges
than the other. Maybe it was saying that there should be government funding of
private school. Not buying it. So the education system is funded from the
government ok and that’s all well to do but where does the money that goes to
the government come from. As the very famous Oscar Leroy once said to the
taxman “I pay your salary.” And as is the nature of Taxes usually you pay more
the more money you make and federal taxes are as such. But what I just looked
up and did not know is that it is the same for all Albertans not measuring your
income. Still though if you use the two salaries as shown in the video the
family that makes 40,000 dollars would pay roughly 4000 dollars and the family
that makes 200,000 pays 20,000. They make more money yet pay more takes and are
taxed at the same rate. So in a sense they are not only paying more money tax
wise for their child’s education not even taking into account that they pay
extra tuition on top of that they are paying 5 times as much and say half of
that goes to their child’s school they are still paying double for the other
child’s school. I don’t know but I guess I just have this sort of who cares
attitude and I’m not really sure why. There will always be rich and there will
always be poor but in my experience the rich are rich for reasons and the poor
are poor for other reasons it is not that one is taking advantage of the other
here, although if it were it would seem that the poor are taking advantage of
the rich, say what? But there are many other circumstances that need to be
observed other than simply how much money you make. I have lived on both sides
of the coin I think growing up I went to public school in our town my parents
never made enough to send me to a private school but when we moved to Nigeria
as missionary kids we went to a private school. Mind you in Nigeria as a child
if you got to go to school in general you were pretty privileged for many
children didn’t and if they did it was till grade seven maybe nine. Maybe this
will sound ridiculous but in comparison it cost my parents 5770 dollars per semester
to send me there where as our top paid house help was 8000 naira (80 dollars) a
month and she could send her children to another private school. There is much
more to be said maybe as we go on I will follow up on this.
